AI verses Humans for various jobs

My name is Ana Felipe and will insert my LinkedIn page here so you can look me up. I wrote this article. I also work remote from the Dominican Republic through our HR firm for a company in New York. By working remote from DR my cost is less than half that of working in New York.

There is a lot of talk about AI but what really is AI?

AI can easily replace jobs that are based on analysis and numbers. Examples are Quickbooks + AI can replace basic accounting and bookkeeping jobs.

ChatGPT can perform the research and analysis but this requires a human who communicates with Chatgpt to ask the best questions and guide Chatgpt to provide the best and qualified information.

Jobs like computer programmers, coders others can be replaced by AI.

As robots become more capable they can replace humans such as making and serving food at McDonald's.

Some people say there are AI customer service chat agent and even video agents who look and talk human. Same with recruiting.

A few realities are most Humans notice when they are talking to an AI agent or seeing an artificial human AI agent on video.

Although the voice may sound more American the AI does not seem to 100% understand what the human customer or job applicant wants or is asking for. As soon as the human notices the AI is failing to understand the conversation the human becomes frustrated and loses patience with the AI.

When it comes to sales and retaining or losing customers there is 1 shot at keeping or losing a customer.

A - If an American calls their airline and are routed to a call center in India where the agent has an accent, this can be a negative and a reason for that American customer to decide to switch airlines or change banks etc. Same happens when an American/human customer struggles with an AI customer service agent.

The AI agent normally tries to force the human customer to choose specific topics, when the human customer wants to have a more fluid conversation with another human.

Even if the AI agent speaks better English just the fact the human customer notices this is AI will turn off many human customers.

The reason to implement AI is usually to reduce the cost of human labor.  Well, how much cost savings is really necessary? What if a person like me can do the job remote from the Dominican Republic for half the cost of working inside the USA. Is this not enough cost savings?

I can tell you that most any and all job candidates would prefer to talk to a LIVE human recruiter like me, same with customers who call companies asking for help with customer service/support.

AI can fit in and be an excellent choice but not so much when human to human communication and interaction is needed. AI has it's place and that is numbers and analytics but not to replace human communication and interaction.

Assume you are a company President. You may use your personal assistant to perform all sorts of private projects unique to your needs. No AI will be able to do this. AI thrives when the work is numerical or consistent. AI does not fit when you have different work requirements and personal projects.

What does make sense is an assistant who becomes expert at using AI like Chatgpt to perform the searching, analysis and assist with handling your changing job requirements week to week.

AI will never replace a human Chef at a restaurant who creates their own custom recipes. AI does not have taste buds LOL. But AI robots can replace human workers at fast food restaurants.

AI will be used mostly to create robots and machines to replace blue collar workers such as assembly line. Trucks and Taxi's will become automated and no longer need human drivers. AI will be used to replace editing and copywriting, accounting, computer programming and other jobs that require numbers and analysis.

AI will never replace FUN jobs like being a wind surfing instructor, at least not in our lifetime.

If you have kids, when they are in high school and thinking of college a strong suggestion is to get professional help with a qualified career coach who has studied how AI will affect jobs in the future. It is important to set your kids up with this help or else they may pursue education and jobs that become obsolete.

Finally, if you are the Boss, would you prefer a relationship with a human like me who can work remote at the lower cost and where can form a human connection. Or, would you be ok with a fake human who has no passion or personal loyalty to you?

There are positives and negatives to both sides of this question.
